Double adventure – canoeing to the bog and exploring the bog on snowshoes

An immersive journey on the Jägala River and the Seli Bog!

The hike is a pleasant adventure on the Jägala River, which winds through the forests of Lõuna-Kõrvemaa. First, we paddle a few kilometers upstream until we reach the edge of the Seli Bog, where we disembark, grab our snowshoes and take a walk around the Seli Bog. On the water, you may see beavers moving around, bog peat forming and other wonderful nature.

The Seli Bog is relatively young, but it has everything typical of a bog – ravines, and peat moss.

We hike in the bog to a 4-meter observation tower, from where you can explore the surrounding landscape. The guide introduces the bog, its nature, fauna, flora and tells about various legends. In the hut, we have a nice picnic with hiking food and then head back towards Simisalu.

The canoe trip with the snowshoe hike is of easy difficulty. The hike does not require previous canoeing experience. The entire hike takes about 4-5 hours, covering about 8 km by paddling and about 4 km on foot.

Content and features of the hike:

• A canoe hike of approximately 8 km, half of which is against the current.
• Snowshoe hike in Seli bog, where the journey will be approximately 4km
• Hot tea and a pie break to gather strength for the return journey.
• The ticket guarantees one place in a 3-person canoe and the use of the necessary equipment (canoe, paddle, vest)

The hike may not be suitable for younger children.

The ticket price includes the service of a hike guide.

Important to know:

The organizer reserves the right to cancel the hike in case of very bad weather conditions or if the group is not filled (minimum number of participants 8 people).

We will go on the hike with Aqua Avant canoes, which can accommodate up to three happy passengers! Attention! Tickets are not refundable 5 days before the hike. If for some reason you are unable to participate, we will try to help you find a replacement.
